This beauty has some rich history. It’s a 1972 Olympia SM8, made in West Germany. I acquired it from a long retired diplomat who ended his career in West Germany. He had been using this typewriter for many years, and decided to bring it back to the States when he packed up his office. Turns out they were starting to use these new whizbang blinky lights thing called a “computer” and he wanted to hang on to this particular machine. It still has the State Department inventory number on it. It still needs a good, solid cleaning, but so far, so good.
